So the “requirements” of this course are:
-basic training of SL usage for student’s and staff
-spaces for the virtual lab
-possibly a media server to share videos inside the lab -

I’m giving out this basic education to the staff of summer universities with Esko Lius. We have one 2 h Adobe Connect Pro lecture, and two 3 h sessions in SL. This course examines learning and learning environments. https://noppa.tkk.fi/noppa/kurssi/tu-53.1330/etusivu SL is related as one lecture was held from the USA by one TKK’s exchange researcher. In today’s meeting, it was discussed that this project should belong to the Aalto archipelago in SL. The first scenario will need facilities resembling physical spaces. One office/coffee room/waiting area, one normal lab area, and one clean lab area.

This is a chemistry project, where the aim is to create a virtual chemistry lab in SL. I’m working in this project until the end of September.

The project will proceed in 3 scenarios, which will be implemented as resources allow. The first one will be a “puhdastila”, some kind of clean lab where students can work with viruses. Such physical facilities are not present at TKK, and the students get the feel how to work in such a lab.
