Has anyone got any good ideas for conferences we could attend as a group: hold a panel, and so on?

This one may be of interest to some…The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) has a Special Interest Group for Virtual Environments now. Their international conference has a Second Life playgroundc(maybe more worlds this year including Open Sim with places like ReactionGrid and Quest Atlantis, an ActiveWorlds K-12 place), lots of sessions about Second Life. The remainder of the conference is targeted at K-12 and teacher education. http://center.uoregon.edu/ISTE/2010/

The League of Worlds exists as a community or inquiry that seeks:

to stimulate and disseminate research, analysis, theory, technical and curricular developments in the creative, educational, training-based and social use of role-playing, simulations and virtual worlds;

to contribute towards the development of coherent frameworks for their advancement, application and assessment;

to link our regions, grids, spaces and worlds into an informal laboratory where we can learn and play together.
